Well, everyone, today is the day that the Minnesota Vikings have to trim their roster down to 53 players. . .54 if you count Jerome Felton, who won't count against the active roster as long as he's under suspension by the league.
The deadline for roster cuts is 5:00 PM Central time this afternoon. Once cuts have been finalized, claims can be placed on players that were waived until 11:00 AM Central time on Sunday, September 1. After that, teams can start establishing their practice squads. But, for today, the big news will be about who gets cut. . .we'll see if the team brings anyone in that got cut by another team.
Here's the Minnesota Vikings' roster as it stands right now.
As mentioned, Jerome Felton does not count against the team's active roster for now. Greg Childs (reserve/PUP) and Christian Ballard (reserve/left team) don't count against it, either. So, technically, they'll be reducing it to 56, but just pretend that Ballard and Childs aren't there. At least we know for sure that Felton will be back at some point.
Speculate away, folks. . .and as soon as we start hearing things about who the Vikings have released, we'll have it here for you.
