Minnesota Vikings News And Links, Labor Day Edition

Marilyn Indahl-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Labor Day, everybody! It was a pretty busy weekend here at the ol' website, and a lot of you took notice by stopping by frequently on the latest updates on the Minnesota Vikings, whether it was roster cuts or whatever else. Thanks to everyone that has come by over the past couple of days!

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-I really can't say enough about the piece that Ted wrote about his father, Don. If it isn't the best post that's ever graced this website, it's on a very, very short list (along with Skol Girl's article about the Sullivan Playground from a while back). If you haven't read it already, please do so. And if you have, hell, read it again.

-The Minnesota Vikings reduced their roster to 53 players on Saturday, and followed that up Sunday by adding free agent offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb, late of our division rivals from Chicago. All things considered, we did a pretty decent job of predicting the 53-man roster.

-We heard that the Seattle Seahawks were going to release cornerback Antoine Winfield, and we got excited about him possibly coming back to Minnesota. Then he decided he was going to retire instead. Much less awesome.

-We've opened up our Pro Football Pick 'Em and Survival Leagues for your predicting pleasure. Come on over and sign up!

We'll leave it with those links for now. I've got to start preparing for the Daily Norseman Fantasy Football Draft, which is going to start at about 5:30 PM Central time. Or I may just burn most of the rest of my night playing Rogue Legacy. Either way, really.

No real theme for the music this week, but I wanted to put this video out there (even though I'm sure a lot of folks have seen it already). I'm not the biggest fan of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. . .as we've established, I'm more of a Craig Ferguson guy. . .but every once in a while they do something pretty great. This is one of those times.

With that, the beer light is on, the bar is open, and the grill is fired up for this Labor Day, ladies and gentlemen! I'll see if I can't get the results of the Official DN Fantasy League Draft up here for your viewing pleasure shortly after it happens, and hopefully we'll have some more good stuff for you over the course of the day here as well.
