Well, folks, we're officially to the last day of the work week, meaning that we're a little more than 48 hours away from the game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Steelers kicking off at Wembley Stadium in London, England. It will be the last Vikings' football we get for two weeks, so hopefully something positive will come of it so we can at least attempt to be happy until the team takes the field again.
Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .
-The big story for this morning is that quarterback Christian Ponder did not participate in the portion of the Vikings' practice that was open to the public on Friday.
-Our friends from The Pulling Linemen have brought us another set of Vikings' practice notes. They'll be hanging with the Steelers on Friday, so these will likely be the last notes we get from them.
-Mark has his weekly look at which college football players you should be keeping an eye on this weekend.
-Eric has his weekly NFL picks for your consumption as well.
From some other outposts around the internet. . .
-Cornerback Chris Cook was out of practice again on Thursday. We should have the final injury reports later today.
-The meeting where the lease for the Vikings' new stadium was supposed to be considered was postponed on Thursday.
-The Vikings cheerleaders had a photo shoot in London and purple monkey dishwasher you're not reading this any more anyway.
-A lot of Londoners just don't see the appeal of Sunday's game between the Vikings and Steelers.
The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've always been, ladies and gentlemen. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum/use the spoiler tags if you feel the need to curse.
Here's the last video for our British Invasion ambient music theme for the week.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Friday, ladies and gentlemen! Enjoy the rest of your day, and we'll have more for you as this Friday rolls on.
