Minnesota Vikings News And Links, 9/3

Hannah Foslien

Back to work for lots of folks today, now that the Labor Day weekend is over, and we're one day closer to the kickoff of the 2013 National Football League season. We're going to have plenty of coverage for you concerning the match-up between the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions this Sunday, and that should be kicking off today.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-It turns out that Marvin Mitchell and not Desmond Bishop will be starting at weak-side linebacker for the Vikings when they get to Ford Field on Sunday.

-The Daily Norseman Fantasy Football League had its draft on Monday, and here are the results.

Also, we've opened up sign-ups for our Pick 'Em and Survival Pools. There's been talk that folks have been unable to join. I'm not sure if Yahoo! has a limit of how many people can be in each pool, but it's something that we can look into. We'll effort to let everyone know about that later on today.

From some other outposts around the internet. . .

-Defensive tackle Kevin Williams was not at practice yesterday, and it is unknown whether or not he'll play on Sunday.

-Chicago Bears GM Phil Emery had high hopes for tackle J'Marcus Webb, who signed with the Vikings after final cuts this weekend.

-Running back Zach Line made the cut for the Minnesota Vikings, and the series featuring him on MMQB brings it to you.

-Tackle Phil Loadholt seems to think that he's flying under the radar. (Seriously, any radar that Phil Loadholt could fly underneath would have to be the worst damn radar ever.)

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as always, ladies and gentlemen. No religion, no politics, no feeding the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum/use the spoiler tags if you feel the need to curse.

Still no real theme for this week's music, but I found this while I was surfing around looking for a tune for today. It's something that really shouldn't work, but totally does.

Yep, that's Lionel Richie and Rob Zombie. Comes off pretty well, I think.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for Tuesday, ladies and gentlemen! We'll have more for you throughout the day today.
