Minnesota Vikings News And Links, 9/30

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! The Minnesota Vikings got their first victory of 2013 yesterday, and now we enter that longest, darkest period of the NFL seasons. Yes, everybody. . .welcome to the bye week. There will be no Vikings football until October 13 when the purple and gold hit the Metrodome to host the Carolina Panthers, but we'll do what we can to get you through it until then.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-If you want to look back on all of the coverage we had of the Vikings' trip to London, including our initial recap and the Stock Market Report, you can see the entire stream right here.

-Vikings legend Chris Doleman will be featured in a new show on The Golf Channel starting on Tuesday, October 8.

From some other outposts around the internet. . .

-Here's the recap of yesterday's game from one of the U.K.'s newspapers.

-And another one from another U.K. newspaper, this one featuring Adrian Peterson talking about the atmosphere at Wembley Stadium.

-After yesterday's game, Vikings' coach Leslie Frazier reiterated that Christian Ponder was still the team's quarterback. I'm sure there won't be any discussion of this at all over the next couple of weeks.

(By the way. . .anyone have any good mixed drink recipes that feature bleach as one of the main ingredients?)

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been, folks. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum/use the spoiler tags if you feel that you absolutely must curse.

In attempting to come up with an ambient music theme for this week, I've decided to pay tribute to the man that sang the National Anthem yesterday at Wembley (and managed to keep whatever live animal that was on his head in the process). Yes, folks, it's KISS Week for your ambient music selections, because. . .really, why the heck not?

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for a VICTORY MONDAY, ladies and gentlemen! We'll have more for you as the day progresses here, so keep your eyes open and a browser tab right here.
