Vikings At Lions: Final Injury Reports

USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions have released their final injury reports for this Sunday's season opener at Ford Field. Let's take a look at the names, starting with the visitors, the Minnesota Vikings. Lots of names on the report for our favorite football team, but only one appears to be serious.

Player Position Injury Sunday Status
Kevin Williams DT Knee Out
McLeod Bethel-Thompson QB Illness Probable
Chris Cook CB Groin Probable
Larry Dean LB Shoulder Probable
Sharrif Floyd DT Knee Probable
Letroy Guion DT Finger Probable
Erin Henderson LB Heel Probable
Phil Loadholt OT Knee Probable
Cordarrelle Patterson WR Back Probable
Mistral Raymond S Shoulder Probable
Harrison Smith S Back Probable

Obviously, the big name on the list is Williams, who will sit this one out. He's still feeling the after effects of the cheap shot he took in San Francisco in the third pre-season game. My guess is that Floyd starts in his place, but we'll see how Leslie Frazier and company want to play this one, what with Floyd having had his own injury issues and missing most of the pre-season. None of the other injuries appear to be anything terribly serious.

Now, on to the injury report for the home standing Detroit Lions. Their injury report is a pretty short one compared to Minnesota's.

Player Position Injury Sunday Status
Ziggy Ansah DE Concussion Probable
Louis Delmas S Knee Probable
Jason Jones DE Knee Probable

And that's it. . .that's the list. The Lions' injury list doesn't have a lot of names on it, but like the majority of the Vikings' list, it doesn't appear there are a lot of serious injury concerns on it.

And those are your official injury reports for Week 1 of the NFL regular season for the Vikings and the Lions, folks.
