It's now, officially, Saturday in God's country, which means we're just a day away from the start of the 2013 Minnesota Vikings season as they battle the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.
We know you're looking forward to watching or following the game, and we hope that you'll come and join us for the Game Thread here on the site. But, if you're unable to do that, we have everything you'll need in order to find the game.
Television Info
This game will be handled by the folks from FOX, as it's an all-NFC match-up. According to the folks from The 506, the announce team that has been assigned to this one is Thom Brennaman and Brian Billick. Be sure to check the listings for the FOX affiliate for wherever you are.
If you are not in the area that the game is being shown locally and have the NFL Sunday Ticket package. . .and this weekend is their free preview weekend for folks that don't have it yet. . .you can find the Vikings/Lions game on Channel 710.
Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 Central time. It also appears that the game is going to be on AFN Prime Atlantic for our military members overseas. If you're one of those folks, the game will kick off at 1800Z, which is 1900L in Central Europe, 2130L in Afghanistan, and Monday at 0200L in Japan and Korea.
Radio Info
Once again, the dulcet tones of Paul Allen and Pete Bercich are ready for another season of Vikings football on the Vikings' Radio Network. The Vikings' Radio Network encompasses 74 stations in a five-state area (Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Iowa), so you should be able to find an affiliate in your area.
If you have satellite radio, you can hear the game as well. If you have an XM radio, you are (unfortunately) stuck with the Lions' radio broadcast, which you can find on Channel 233. If you have a Sirius radio, you have your choice of the Vikings' feed on Channel 134 or the Lions' feed on Channel 94.
Streaming Info
To my knowledge, there is no legal way to stream this particular game if you live in the United States. (Unless you have the Sunday Ticket through your video game console, as CCNorseman details in the comments below.) Do NOT. . .and I mean not in any way, shape, or form. . .promote illegal streaming sites on The Daily Norseman. Not in the comments, not in the FanPosts, not in the FanShots, not in the Game Thread on Sunday, not anywhere. Don't even hint at them. Trust me on this. If you're that determined to watch the game via an illegal stream, do a Google search and find it on your own.
If you live overseas, the only legal stream, that I know of, is to purchase NFL Game Pass from the folks at NFL.com, which is actually a pretty sweet deal. I've got it for the games that aren't on AFN, and from using it to watch the pre-season games, it's a pretty solid product.
That should be everything you need to find this Sunday's action, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy!
