Minnesota Vikings News And Links, 9/9

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

It's the day after the Minnesota Vikings' 34-24 loss to the Detroit Lions in the 2013 season opener. Most of us are still a bit bummed about it, but at least the wait for the team's second game is only a week away, as they'll travel to Chicago this Sunday to take on the Bears at Soldier Field.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread, pretty much everything we brought you centered around coverage of the game. All of our coverage of yesterday's opener is right here if you want to review it.

From some other outposts around the internet. . .

-The Vikings aren't happy about something Ndamukong Suh did on Sunday, as the NFL's dirtiest player hit center John Sullivan with an unnecessary low block on an interception return.

-Christian Ponder remains an enigma, according to Ben Goessling of ESPN.com.

-Tom Powers of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, on the other hand, says that Ponder was shaky, and Jim Souhan of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune says that it's time to quit coddling him.

-On Fox, former Vikings receiver Randy Moss said it was "disrespectful" that rookie Cordarrelle Patterson was wearing #84. (I wonder how he felt about the legendary Aundrae Allison wearing it a few years back.)

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been, ladies and gentlemen. No politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, and keep the bad language to a minimum/use the spoiler tags if you feel the need to curse.

By request, it's Pink Floyd week here in the Open Thread. . .Led Zeppelin week will be next week.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Monday, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy the rest of your day, and we'll have more on yesterday's happenings as the day progresses.
