There are lots of people that are big fans of the Minnesota Vikings. Anyone that's been on this site can tell you that. But there are some people that, at times, can take their fandom just a little too far.
Or a lot too far, in the case of Twitter user "mikeywaldo."
Mikey or Mr. Waldo or whatever his name is apparently decided that quarterback Christian Ponder's performance on Sunday against the Detroit Lions doesn't just merit his being benched, it merits him being murdered. And who better to carry out this murder than his wife, ESPN reporter Samantha Steele-Ponder?
Mr. mikeywaldo politely requested that Mrs. Ponder do a "Steve McNair" on Mr. Ponder. If you'll recall, McNair was murdered on July 4, 2009, by his mistress (not his wife. . .a minor quibble in the grand scheme of things, really). He made sure that everyone understood that this was his request when, after Mrs. Ponder asked him what he was asking by responding with a simple "correct." He's since been kicked off of the Twitter, or he's deactivated his account, presumably because of these remarks.
This is the part where we subtly remind you that, though being passionate about football is completely acceptable, and even encouraged, there's a line that really shouldn't be crossed. It's football. . .it's really not life and death. Seriously. Don't be freaking stupid.
