Happy New Year Everybody!
I saw this come across my twitter feed yesterday, but I was all tied up with family committments. I haven't seen much made of this here at the Daily Norseman, but if this is true, I would be one very excited Vikings fan. According to Pete Roussel, over at coachingsearch.com, Mike Zimmer will reportedly interview for the Vikings head coaching position. I'm not that familiar with this website, or Mr. Roussel's reputation for news accuracy, so I'm tentatively putting up this article.
Mike Zimmer has been the defensive coordinator for the Bengals since 2008, and was the defensive coordinator for both the Cowboys and Falcons prior to that. He has experience as a defensive backs coach, but has never been a head coach at any level. Regardless, he's led top 10 defenses consistently wherever he has gone, and has proven success as a defensive coordinator. He has interviewed for head coaching vacancies in the past, but hasn't been able to land the big gig yet. I'm a big fan of Mike Zimmer, and I think he's a serious, no-nonsense coach that simply gets results. I'd love to have him as the next head coach of the Minnesota Vikings.
What are your thoughts? Would Mike Zimmer be the one to right the Vikings longboat?
