Cordarrelle Patterson Named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for December

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

We've got some hot, breaking news for you from off the Twitter this morning: Minnesota Vikings rookie wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson is pretty darn good.

After putting together a very good month of December, the man they call "Flash" was not the Special Teams Rookie of the Month for December in the NFL. . .but the Offensive Rookie of the Month.

Patterson did have a pretty darn good month of December. In five games, he caught 16 passes for 219 yards and three touchdowns. He also had ten rushes for 156 yards and three more touchdowns. According to Randall Liu, the NFL's Director of NFC Football Communications cited above, Patterson is the first rookie to have three receiving touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns in the same month since 1983, when the feat was accomplished by Roger Craig.

Patterson is the fourth Vikings rookie to win an Offensive Rookie of the Month award since its inception, and he joins some pretty good company. . .a trio of guys named Randy Moss, Adrian Peterson, and Percy Harvin.

Congratulations to Cordarrelle Patterson on winning the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Month award for December of 2013. We might be a little bit biased here, but it looks like that's a sure sign of bigger and better things to come.
