Which College Players Are Future Vikings Week 7 Review and Week 8 Primer

Another week of great college football. How about a shout out to the State of Mississippi? Mississippi State looked good in beating Auburn and one of my favortie prospects Bernardick McKinney is likely going to go in the 1st round. I guess the only other upsets were USC beating Arizona and Duke beating Georgia Tech. There were some close calls but teams like Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Michigan State, Alabama, and Notre Dame all managed to win. Baylor and TCU had one heck of a defensive struggle. Since the score was 61 to 58 in favor of Baylor then the defenses were definitely struggling.

Otto Greule Jr

I am sticking with Gordon for now.  I am not sure I would take him in the top 10 though.  But he is very special!

I went with Drango to satisfy the masses who have their pitchforks out and cant wait to use them on Matt Kalil.  While I recognize he needs to play better I also realize that he is only in his 3rd year and not as bad as people want to believe.  Well, I guess if you subscribe to PFF then he is pure garbage and therefore should be cut immediately.  Maybe that is over the top but the level of patience that is afforded to Matt Kalil is embarassing.  I would not feel bad at all if he turned it around and then wanted to sign elsewhere.  Who wants to play for a fan base that is notorius for kicking theior own players when they are down and especially once they leave.  Yeah, I am not down with that kind of attitude.  But to each thier own.

Getting back to Drango.  He looks like a solid player that may be able to play guard.  Yeah, I know.  Why take a tackle and move him to guard.  Gee, I don't know.  Let's ask the Rams why they are playing Robinson at guard?  Because he is good and makes their line better.  I expect that he eventually he will move out to left tackle but if he stayed at guard and turned into an All Pro then who would really care.

I think the Vikings desperately need to upgrade their skill position players because the cupboard is fairly bare.  I have no faith in Jennings and it really does not even matter what he does the rest of this season.  There is no way I could see a justification for paying him 9 mil next season at age 32.  I hope the man can get his money but it does not seem like a very wise investment even if his production is not his own fault.  At the end of the day you are still not getting your monies worth.

Montgomery is another CP84 but I think a little better at being a WR.  Too much talent to ignore.

Thompson and Johnson are necessary to bolster the LB group.  They may not start year one but hopefully they can work their way into that starting lineup.

Parker is another wide receiver who has been hurt at the start of this season but is talented and has played with Teddy.  I really do not think that is going to matter in the NFL but maybe it will.

Harrison is another big boy and adds to the offensive line group.

Obviously I had to have a Trojan.  come on now.  But Shaw was supposedly a 2nd round prospect heading into this season.  Then he faked a rescue and is now persona non grata.  He still is talented and is learning a valuable lesson this season and he is likely to fall in the draft.  He would be the offical steal of this draft.

Adding a second running back is crazy right?  I don't know.  I realize people are excited about Banyard but who knows if the team feels the same.  They are hanging onto him but he has not got much of a chance.  Asiata is not  a back I am excited about.  He is OK but not very dynamic.  I could still see him staying even if they do draft two backs.

I think Bibbs would be a nice compliment to the tight end group.

Finally, Cox is another big defensive back but as a late round pick could have a tough time making the team.  If it weren't this team.

They had the Vikings selecting 4th in this one ...

1.4 to the Saints for 1.11 & 2.11
1.11 to the Chiefs for 1.16 & 3.16
3.16 to the Ravens for 3.24 & 4.24
7.4 to the Cowboys for 7.24 & 7.30

216 - R7 P24 Kevin White WR West Virginia Sr 6-3 209
222 - R7 P30 Clayton Geathers SS UCF rSr 6-2 208

I loaded up on the skill positions here which is probably not going to happen.  I would not be upset if they did draft this way.  Of course I say that now but come draft day I will be upset with every pick.  :)

Well there you have it. Enjoy this week of college football!
