Which College Players Are Future Vikings Week 5 Review and Week 6 Primer

New, comments

College football keeps getting better and better. Every week there are new surprises (I suppose) that actually are starting to reveal the pretenders and contenders. UCLA opened up a can on Arizona State. Brett Hundley makes all the difference in the world. Oklahoma State had to hang on to beat Texas Tech. Florida State had their hand full with North Carolina State before pulling away at the end. Texas A&M needed overtime to get by Arkansas. Georgia and Todd Gurley had to battle hard to beat Tennessee. Stanford barely escaped Washington with a win. The only upset in the top 25 was South Carolina getting upended by Missouri. Just a great week really!

I am sure there are other games that a lot of people will be watching. Feel free to give a shout out to those teams and list any other players you like.

Here is a mock with the Vikings picking at #13. I raised the Vikings up due to the great win vs the Falcons!

13. *Shawn Oakman  DE  Baylor  rJr  6-8  275
45. *Benardrick McKinney  OLB  Mississippi State  rJr  6-4  245
77. *Deontay Greenberry  WR  Houston  Jr  6-3  198
109. David Johnson  RB  Northern Iowa  rSr  6-2  229
141. Hayes Pullard ILB Southern California rSr 6-1 235
173. Jaquiski Tartt  SS  Samford  rSr  6-1  218
205. Jamon Brown  OT  Louisville  Sr  6-5  350

I wanted to do something different this time. I am not certain what is going to happen with AP and he could end up back with the Vikings (at a reduced salary hopefully).  Also, McKinnon and Asiata may continue to surprise making the need to grab a RB early not as important as we may want to believe.  Gurley and Gordon do look very good though.  Still, with the devaluation of the RB position in the NFL it may not be wise to use an early pick unless you are certain you have an AP type talent.

I like McKinney a lot and I feel he is likely to be a first round pick when it is all said and done.

Here is an alternate mock using the Fanspeak On the Clock premium draft site http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/premium/draft.php ...

They had the Vikings selecting 11th.

1st trade - 1.11 pick to the Cowboys for 1.18 & 3.18

18 - R1 P18 RB TODD GURLEY GEORGIA
43 - R2 P11 OLB BENARDRICK MCKINNEY MISSISSIPPI STATE
75 - R3 P11 DT ARIK ARMSTEAD OREGON
82 - R3 P18 WR DEVANTE PARKER LOUISVILLE
107 - R4 P11 CB JOSH SHAW USC
139 - R5 P11 ILB STEPHONE ANTHONY CLEMSON
171 - R6 P11 OT TYRUS THOMPSON OKLAHOMA
203 - R7 P11 QB CODY FAJARDO NEVADA
