For a couple of teams that have been around as long as the Minnesota Vikings and the Washington Redskins have, there really hasn't been a lot of history between these two teams. They've only gotten together 23 times over the years, with 18 of them coming in the regular season and five in the post-season. Let's take a quick look back at what has happened over the years when these two teams have gotten together.

As always, these numbers are brought to you by the folks from Pro Football Reference.

Total Games Between the Vikings and the Redskins: 23 (18 regular season, 5 post-season)

All-Time Record: Redskins, 12-11 (9-9 regular season, 3-2 Redskins post-season)

Total Vikings Points Scored, Head-to-Head: 537 (23.3 points/game)

Total Redskins Points Scored, Head-to-Head: 501 (21.8 points/game)

Longest Vikings Winning Streak vs Redskins: 2 (4 different times, most recently from 28 November 2010 to 24 December 2011)

Longest Redskins Winning Streak vs Vikings: 7 (15 January 1983 to 2 January 1993)

Most Recent Vikings Victory in Minnesota: 7 November 2013 (Final score 34-27)

Most Recent Redskins Victory in Minnesota: 23 December 2007 (Final score 32-21)

Biggest Vikings Victory in Minnesota: 34 points, 18 October 1998 (Final score 41-7)

Biggest Redskins Victory in Minnesota: 14 points, 29 November 1984 (Final score 31-17)

It's a bit strange that the Vikings have never won more than two in a row against the Redskins, and the Redskins have a 7-game winning streak against the Vikings in their history, yet the all-time record only favors Washington by one game. That 7-game winning streak for the Redskins over the Vikings includes all three of their post-season victories over Minnesota, including two games that bookend that streak.

The most recent game between these two teams took place last season on a Thursday night at the Metrodome. The Vikings got down big early, and trailed 24-14 at halftime. The Redskins eventually extended the lead to 27-14 in the third quarter, but the Vikings scored the game's last 20 points and held off a late Washington rally to hold on for the 34-27 win.

Hopefully, on Sunday, the Vikings can even up the all-time series between these two teams.
