Minnesota Vikings News and Links, 10/28

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Week 8 of NFL action is officially in the books, and we can start looking forward to the Minnesota Vikings' last contest before the bye week, as they will host the Washington Redskins at TCF Bank Stadium this coming Sunday.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-We took a look at some of the numbers provided to us by the folks from Pro Football Focus from the 19-13 overtime victory over Tampa Bay.

-We got our stream for this week's game underway by taking a look back at the history between the Redskins and the Vikings.

From some other sources around the internet. . .

-The Buccaneers attempted something different on Sunday, using their cheerleaders to attempt to distract the Vikings on their final drive. It didn't work.

-The issues on special teams continued for the Vikings in Tampa.

-Bucs' rookie wide receiver Mike Evans said that the Vikings played some "funky coverages" in Sunday's game. Been a long time since we've heard something like that.

Also, today is trade deadline day in the National Football League. I'm guessing it will be a lot like every other NFL trade deadline. . .quiet and uneventful. . .but if anything big does happen, we'll have something here for you as soon as we can.

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been, ladies and gentlemen. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, keep the bad language to a minimum (using spoiler tags, if necessary), and keep the GIFs relatively work-safe.

Today's musical entertainment for your enjoyment.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Tuesday, folks. Enjoy the rest of your day!
