Anthony Barr Nominated For Rookie Of The Week Award

David Manning-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr, whose late-game heroics capped a 19-13 overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, is one of five nominees for the Pepsi Rookie of the Week Award for Week 8.

In addition to his fumble recovery touchdown to win the game, Barr had eight tackles and a sack, as well as a pass defensed.

His competiton for this week's award comes from Arizona Cardinals' receiver John Brown (5 catches, 119 yards, game winning TD catch), New Orleans Bounty Hunters receiver Brandin Cooks (who cares), Buffalo Bills' receiver Sammy Watkins (3 catches, 157 yards, 1 TD), and Pittsburgh Steelers' wide receiver Martavis Bryant (five catches, 83 yards, two touchdowns).

Of the five nominees, Barr had the biggest individual play, although you could make an argument for Brown's touchdown catch (which really was a great play when the Cardinals needed it). It would be nice to see Barr get the award. . .maybe some of the receivers will cancel each other out.

You can help Barr get this week's award by going to the link above, which will take you to NFL.com's page for the Pepsi Rookie of the Week Award, and cast your vote for him. Here's hoping that the fans can push him to a victory.
