The MBT Era Is Dead! Long Live The MBT Era!

The semi-legend gets his walking papers, but the Vikings sign three more guys in his place you've probably never heard of

John Konstantaras

So what was your favorite moment of the MacLeod Bethel-Thompson era?

I was particularly fond of the thought that he was better than Christian Ponder, and was an All Pro in waiting if he was just given the chance. And you know, after watching Christian Ponder struggle last week, I was willing to give him a shot.

But no, now we'll never get that chance, because Thompson was cut this morning. But he can hit the street unemployed knowing that it took not one, not two, but THREE fringe NFL players to take his place.

Yes, that's right, the Vikings re-signed QB Chandler Harnish, who, in the span of a week, went from unemployed, to one play away from appearing on national TV, to fans clamoring for him to play against Green Bay because OH GOD MAKE IT STOP IT BURNS PLEASE MOMMY MAKE THE BAD QUARTERBACK GO AWAY, to unemployed again, to re-signed to the practice squad.

Job security, yo.

The Vikings also signed WR Donte Foster, who had previously been on the Vikings practice squad, and DB Pierre Warren. Here's what the Vikings say about Warren in their official press release:

Warren entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the [EFF THOSE GUYS] on 5/12/14. He spent the preseason with the [EFF EM ALL] before being waived during final roster cuts. He was signed to the team's practice squad on 9/1/14 and cut 9/18/14. As a 2-year starter at Jacksonville State, Warren notched 166 tackles, 8 interceptions, 29 passes defensed and 5 fumble recoveries.

Uh, just so there's no misunderstanding...in their press release, the Vikings correctly referred to [EFF THOSE GUYS] as the professional football team from New Orleans. Although it would've been cool as Hell if they had actually referred to them as the EFF THOSE GUYS.

But they didn't. And I can't refer to them as the Sai[SERIOUSLY EFF THOSE GUYS]nts, so there.
