Minnesota Vikings News and Links, 11/6

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Week 10 of the NFL season kicks off tonight with what should be a pretty interesting Thursday night contest, as the Cleveland Browns travel to take on their in-state and in-division rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals. Other than that, we're still dragging through the bye week and waiting to see what happens with Adrian Peterson.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-The penalty on Harrison Smith for breathing on RGIII on Sunday was named the "Worst Penalty of the Week" by the folks at the mothership.

-Di has opened up the DN Mailbag to answer some more of your questions.

-CCNorseman has a look at the waiting involved in the Peterson decision.

-And we missed a pretty big anniversary yesterday, but hey. . .better late than never, right?

Also, we've gotten word from our friend Gur Samuel (who you may remember from our coverage of last year's London game) that the matchups for the 2015 International Series are going to be announced at 9:00 AM Central time today. Will the Vikings be "hosting" another game in the United Kingdom next season? We'll find out in a couple of hours.

From some other places across the internet. . .

-The family that Christian and Samantha Ponder bought clothing for a while back got an invite to Winter Park.

-The mother of Adrian Peterson's son says she doesn't want to see him punished further.

-The Minneapolis Police Department will not be providing private escorts for the time being, in light of the crash involving the Washington Redskins' buses on Sunday.

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been ladies and gentlemen. . .no religion, no politics, no feeding of the trolls, keep the bad language to a minimum (using spoiler tags, if necessary), and keep the pictures relatively work-safe and appropriately sized.

Your entertainment for this Thursday.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Thursday, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy the rest of your day!
