Even though the action isn't completely over in this final week of the regular season in the National Football League, we already know which teams the Minnesota Vikings will be facing in 2015.
Here are all of the Vikings' opponents for the 2015 season:
Home Games | Away Games |
Chicago Bears | Chicago Bears |
Detroit Lions | Detroit Lions |
Green Bay Packers | Green Bay Packers |
Seattle Seahawks | Arizona Cardinals |
St. Louis Rams | San Francisco 49ers |
New York Giants | Atlanta Falcons |
Kansas City Chiefs | Denver Broncos |
San Diego Chargers | Oakland Raiders |
The Vikings were going to play the NFC West and AFC West regardless, as well as home-and-home series with each of their three division rivals. The Giants finished third in the NFC East, so the Vikings will host them next season. The last game on the "Away" side will be determined after the "NFC South Championship Game" concludes this afternoon. The Vikings will travel to play the loser of that game. A loss by Carolina will make them 6-9-1, which would put them behind 7-9 New Orleans. A loss by Atlanta would make the 6-10, also behind New Orleans. So, whoever loses the game between Carolina and Atlanta this afternoon will be the Vikings' final road opponent of 2015.
EDIT: I erroneously said that the Vikings were locked into playing the Cheap Shot Artists of New Orleans, but it appears that we're going to have to wait for the late games to wrap up after all. My apologies for the error.
EDIT: The Panthers completely boat-raced the Falcons, which means the Vikings will make a trip to Atlanta next season.
We won't know the schedule (as far as solid dates and times) until right around the time of the NFL Draft, if memory serves me correctly, but it appears as though we know which teams the Vikings will see in their second (and final) season at TCF Bank Stadium before they move into their gorgeous new home for 2016.
