Duron Carter To Visit With Vikings On January 9

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

It appears that we now know when CFL wide receiver Duron Carter, son of former Minnesota Vikings' receiver Cris Carter, is going to be visiting his father's former team.

How? Well, Carter the Elder let everyone know on Twitter just a little while ago.

He also said that Carter the Younger will be visiting with the Indianapolis Colts on January 5.

Duron Carter can't sign with an NFL team until February, but he can start setting up visits with teams in January leading up to that time.

Carter bounced around the college ranks, starting out at his father's alma mater of THE. . .dramatic pause. . .Ohio State University, and also enrolling at Alabama and Florida Atlantic, though he never took the field for either of those two schools. After failing to catch on with the Vikings and the New Orleans Bounty Hunters following the 2013 NFL Draft, he made his way to Canada and the Montreal Alouettes. In his two CFL seasons, he has 124 receptions for 1,939 yards and 12 touchdowns.

As I've said in previous postings about Duron Carter, I don't think he's going to be the be-all and the end-all for the Vikings at the wide receiver position if he should sign with the team, but it certainly can't hurt the team to bring him in and kick the proverbial tires a bit. Who knows. . .maybe history can repeat itself for a guy named Carter that had some off-field issues before signing with Minnesota.
