After three days full of big moves from the Vikings, one of the bigger remaining questions was whether or not the team would re-sign wide receiver Jerome Simpson.
We don't have to wonder any longer. Simpson will be back with the team in 2014. Here's the tweet from the Vikings that made it official:

The terms of the deal weren't immediately available, but we'll update this post with the specifics as soon as they're released. He signed a "prove-it" one-year contract last year worth $2.1 million. The Vikings obviously think he proved enough to stay on with the team, but it wouldn't be surprising if the terms of his new deal were similar to the contract he inked before the 2013 season. A deal any longer than a couple years at a similar salary would raise a lot of eyebrows.
I know this move won't be met with universal adulation by Vikings fans, but I think it's a solid decision from the team. Simpson was second on the team with 48 receptions and a career-best 726 yards last year. It's true that Simpson can be an absolute roller coaster at times, but this signing does create some certainty that the Vikings will have plenty of options in their receiving corps next year. We should probably expect Greg Jennings and Cordarrelle Patterson (and perhaps even Jarius Wright if he continues to improve) to get more snaps and targets but Simpson can still be looked to for the occasional big play.
Matt Cassel (or whoever else may be under center in Week 1 for the Vikings) now has four legitimate wide receiver options at his disposal, and that's before the 2014 Draft. But what do you think of the move? Vote in our poll below and share your thoughts in the comments.
