Minnesota Vikings News and Links, 4/17

Trevor Ruszkowksi-USA TODAY Spor

Only THREE MORE WEEKS UNTIL THE 2014 NFL DRAFT! And then. . .another two months (or so) of waiting for Training Camp. Still, it's better than nothing, I guess.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-The Minnesota Vikings' draft party for this year is going to be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Ted has the details here. Don't try to go to the Metrodome. . .it's not there any more.

-Vikings' guard Josh Samuda suffered what we'll just term a bad ankle injury. Eric has pictures and video here. If ye be weak of stomach, ye might want to avoid it.

-We're marching on through the 2014 Big Board, as we're now determining spots 21-25.

-Want to take a stab at predicting the 2014 Minnesota Vikings' schedule? Well, do it right here. First prize is nothing. Second prize is half of nothing.

From some other sources around the internet. . .

-The New York Giants have signed quarterback Josh Freeman. They must have liked what they saw when he went against them on Monday night this past year.

-ESPN has a brief look at the Vikings' "Top 30" event, which got underway yesterday.

-Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray had his pro day yesterday.

-The last pieces of the Metrodome will officially be hauled off today.

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been, ladies and gentlemen. . .no religion, no politics, no feeding of the trolls, keep the language relatively clean (with spoiler tags if necessary), and keep the GIFs relatively work-safe.

Your musical selection for today, a band whose lead signer hits the big 5-0 today.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Thursday, everybody. Enjoy the rest of your day.
