Today Is Memorial Day

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Spor
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

On this day, we look back and pay tribute to the men and women that have given the ultimate sacrifice. No matter where the battle, no matter what the cause, an overwhelming number of people have lost their lives to defend the things that we take for granted every day. Today, many people will be spending time with their families, their friends, and their loved ones. I ask that you please take a moment out of your day to remember these men and women and what they mean to this country and our way of life.
