New York Giants Realize They Signed Josh Freeman, Release Him

Remember back in the early portion of the 2013 NFL season when the Minnesota Vikings threw Josh Freeman out against the New York Giants on a Monday night and he proceeded to put together a historically awful game?

And remember how, after the Vikings didn't play him again after that performance (amidst rumors that he basically didn't give a damn and was just showing up for the paycheck), that the Giants. . .the very team that watched him play awful football against them. . .thought it would be a good idea to sign him to a contract?

Well, apparently this situation has rectified itself, as the Giants released Freeman just a short time ago.

It's going to be pretty tough for Freeman to revive his career at this point. After being viewed as having some upside when the Vikings signed him after his release from Tampa Bay, it now appears he's burned through that equity faster than Lindsay Lohan (insert snappy drug and/or alcohol reference here). Maybe he should have taken that extra five minutes to learn everything on Bill Musgrave's play chart. . .he might not be in this mess now.
