Yeah, there are going to have to be a heck of a lot more of these tonight, me thinks.
Welcome, welcome one and all to the best Minnesota Vikings-centric coverage of the 2014 NFL Draft that you're going to find anywhere on the internet. We're just 90 minutes away from things kicking off at Radio City Music Hall, ending approximately 15 months of speculation (at least, it certainly seemed that way). We are going to have all sorts of coverage for your reading pleasure, and we hope that you enjoy all of it.
I would like to put down one minor rule that will differentiate this from some of the other Open Threads we usually have here at DN, and that's that we would like no GIFs during the Draft Open Threads. The reason for this is not to "spoil the fun" or anything like that. It's the fact that, if past years are any indication, these threads are going to fill up with comments in a hurry, and a lot of folks already get bogged down as it is. The GIFs will just exacerbate that, and if people are going to get the information that we provide, we don't want their computers crashing or slowing down or anything like that. So, please honor this request.
We have our Twitter feeds from our two men on the scene at Winter Park for your reading pleasure right here:
The rest of us will be hanging out in the Open Threads or on Twitter (and you can find all of our handles in this post here) or both.
We also have a live pre-draft show from the mothership at SB Nation. That will kick off at 6:30 PM Central time and run until the draft starts at 7 PM Central. You can watch it below.
This should be an exciting night by pretty much any measure, ladies and gentlemen. Tonight, at least one fresh face is going to become a member of the Minnesota Vikings, and over the course of the weekend even more will be added. We had to wait an extra-long time for this draft to come around. . .some people are going to be happy with what happens tonight, and some people won't be. Please effort to respect everyone's opinion, regardless of whether you agree with it or not, and most of all enjoy the draft tonight, Friday night, and Saturday morning/afternoon.
Let's get it on, ladies and gentlemen.
