We're one week away from training camp, and if any of you saw the Vikings 2013 Season Highlight film called Charting A New Course that was on the NFL Network last night, you saw a sneak preview of what we might expect from Mike Zimmer.
And if you're not fired up, you might be dead, because you don't have a pulse. The first few minutes of the program showed Zimmer mic'ed up at one of the off season OTA's, and he had some quotes that just made me sit up and take notice.
"I can find a cover 2 corner anywhere, I can guarantee you that. I can go down to the 7-11 in Bloomington and find one."
Here's a Vine of that I saw on Twitter:
"Don't tell me about the labor, show me the baby. Know what I'm saying?" [ED Note: No, not really, but I laughed and got fired up. Is that okay?]
Finally, he saw a player (a couple people thought it was Everson Griffen, but I couldn't tell) sitting down on the field before practice. "Hey, you want me to get you a f***in' chair?"
Seriously, get fired up, because one week from Today Zimmer leads this team on to the practice field in Mankato, and we'll be there. Since last we brought you an open thread:
Fearless Leader gave us another top play from 2013. Of course it was Cordarrelle Patterson.
The net worth of the Minnesota Vikings has increased substantially. Dr. Evil would be most happy.
Di concluded the second and final part of her Michele Tafoya interview.
From elsewhere around the Vikings universe:
Former Viking, Packer, and Sa[EFF THOSE GUYS!!!] Darren Sharper's rape trial has been postponed.
The NFL Draft, which has been held in New York since before most of you who read (and write for and YES THAT INCLUDES ME) this site were born (1965), will be held in either Los Angeles or Chicago next year. If it's in Chicago, that might be fun to go to.
Let's finish off the week with one more Johnny Cash tune, shall we?
Our daily thread rules remain the same as always: no politics, no religion, watch the bad words or use the spoiler tag, and don't feed any trolls. Bar's open, beer light is on, and let's enjoy our last Friday without Vikings football until, hopefully, next February!!!
