Minnesota Vikings News and Links, 8/11

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

It's Monday, and the Minnesota Vikings are 1-0 on the pre-season after a 10-6 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Friday night at TCF Bank Stadium. The team's next game will be at TCF Bank Stadium this Saturday when they host the Arizona Cardinals, who put a 32-0 whooping on the Houston Texans in their pre-season debut this week. We'll have plenty for you up until then, though.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-Arif and Dusty had a new episode of Norse Code up before the pre-season opener.

-Eric did a guest spot on the Purple FTW Podcast that you can listen to.

-Ted posted his "Bubble Watch" for the defensive side of the football.

-Arif put together a big Training Camp Notebook with a lot of great info.

-If there was a game, then there was a Stock Market Report about it, and Ted's got his for the pre-season Opener.

-Defensive tackle Linval Joseph got shot (along with eight other people) at a Minneapolis night club on Saturday morning. Thankfully, the injuries suffered by Joseph were minor.

-Ted, who lives in the St. Louis area, gave us some things to do if you're headed down there for the season opener.

-We asked you where you prefer to select in your fantasy football drafts. . .at the ends of a round or in the middle?

-We also took a bit of a deeper look into the Vikings' portion of the Football Outsiders Almanac.

-The team named former Houston Texans special teams coach Joe Marciano as the interim ST coach while Mike Priefer serves his suspension to start the season.

-Sports Illustrated's Peter King took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge at Vikings' camp, with the help of Everson Griffen.

-And the Vikings filled the last spot on their roster with MOAR TIGHT END, signing former Chargers and Cardinals tight end Kory Sperry.

That should be enough to tide folks over for a while.

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been, ladies and gentlemen. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, keep the bad language to a minimum (using spoiler tags, if necessary), and keep the GIFs relatively work-safe.

Nothing special for today's entertainment.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for Monday, folks. Enjoy the rest of your day!
