Another day closer to another pre-season game for the Minnesota Vikings, and we had plenty of stuff for you yesterday. Let's review, shall we?
Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .
-It appears that former Vikings' center Mick Tingelhoff has a pretty powerful ally in his quest to reach the Pro Football Hall of Fame this time around.
-There are going to be a couple of extra spots available on NFL practice squads.
-Wide receiver Jerome Simpson. . .who, as it turns out, had already been suspended for three games. . .appealed that suspension in New York yesterday.
-Ted told us that we have our first resident of Le chien de la maison de Mike Zimmer.
-Matt Cassel was named the starting quarterback for the "all-important" third pre-season game against his former team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
-Ted took another stab at predicting the team's 53-man roster.
From some other sources across the internet. . .
-Rookie linebacker Anthony Barr is adjusting to playing a bit of defensive end in the team's new scheme.
-Speaking of linebackers, the team has waived linebacker Dom Decicco, who had been injured, and signed former Detroit Lions' linebacker Justin Jackson.
-There's a bit of a friendly rivalry developing between quarterbacks Matt Cassel and Teddy Bridgewater.
-Former Vikings' lineman Bob Sapp is highlighting a fight card. . .in North Korea.
The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been, ladies and gentlemen. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, keep the bad language to a minimum (using spoiler tags, if necessary), and keep the GIFs relatively work-safe.
Your entertainment for today. . .the one song from Mandatory Fun that we missed a couple of weeks ago because there wasn't an embeddable version of it at the time.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Tuesday, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy the rest of your day!
