Adrian Peterson To Sit Out Again On Saturday

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

In a move that should be as unsurprising this week as it has been for the first two weeks of the NFL pre-season, Minnesota Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson will not see the field on Saturday night.

Peterson will sit out the "all-important" third pre-season game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. There's nothing wrong with Peterson at the present time. . .and Mike Zimmer and company want to make sure that things stay that way prior to the start of the regular season.

The NFL's best running back hasn't had a pre-season carry since 2011, and has only appeared in one pre-season game over the last three years. It had been speculated that Peterson could see some time in this Saturday's game, as he's yet to take a live snap in Norv Turner's new offense, but the Vikings have decided that it isn't worth the potential risk.

Matt Asiata will likely get the start for the Vikings against the Chiefs, with rookie Jerick McKinnon and backup Joe Banyard seeing significant time as well.
