Here are the ground rules for the Game Threads:
-Thou shalt not link illegal feeds of today's game, or I shall kick thy arse to the curb until the game is over. Do not promote then, do not mention them, do not even hint at them. Thou hast been warned.
-Thou shalt make an attempt to keep the swearing to a minimum. Understandable that it will slip occasionally, but do try to limit it. If you really feel the need to curse, use the spoiler tags to keep it covered up. We'll get the sentiment.
-Thou shalt not feed the trolls. Rather, thou shall simply point them out, and they shall be banished to the fires of Mordor. Or Wisconsin. Whichever we feel is more harsh at the time.
-Thou shalt not engage in racist, sexist, or other such insulting rhetoric. Somebody disagreeing with you does not make them racist or sexist. It means they disagree with you. Talk it out like adults.
-Thou shalt not bait the fans of other teams into trolling.
-Basically, thou shalt not be a jackwagon in the game thread.
Alright, ladies and gentlemen. We've made it to the "all-important" third pre-season game of the 2014 NFL season. It's going to be a pretty hot one tonight in Kansas City. . .hopefully everyone on both sides stays hydrated and we get through this with no major issues.
So, what are we looking for this evening?
1) No major injuries - As always, this is the most important part of any pre-season contest.
2) The safety dance continues - One of our "things to watch" from last week's game against Arizona had to do with seeing if anyone could separate themselves from the pack in the battle to start next to Harrison Smith at safety. The fact that we're highlighting it again sort of indicates that. . .well, nobody did. Robert Blanton will be seeing his first game action of the pre-season after battling some hamstring issues, and players like Kurt Coleman, Mistral Raymond, Jamarca Sanford, and Chris Crocker are all fighting for a place in the starting lineup. Can any of them do this week what they all failed to do last week?
3) Offensive momentum - The NFL's best running back hasn't seen the field this pre-season, but the Vikings' offense has been humming along just fine anyway. This far, Matt Cassel and Teddy Bridgewater have combined to complete 71% of their passes for 441 yards and three touchdowns, and both of them played brilliantly in last week's victory over the Arizona Cardinals. It looks as though the starting quarterback battle is over, with Cassel likely getting the nod for Week 1 in St. Louis, but it will be interesting to see if the team can keep it going against a very good defense in what might be the NFL's most hostile road environment. (Yes, even in the pre-season.)
We're about an hour away from game time in Kansas City, folks. Enjoy tonight's game, and
SKOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL VIKINGS!!!!
