"Good Chance" Bridgewater Starts Against Titans

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings named Matt Cassel as their starting quarterback on Monday, giving the veteran the nod over rookie Teddy Bridgewater. In the Vikings' pre-season finale, however, it appears that the rookie will be getting his first NFL "start" on Thursday when the Vikings take on the Tennessee Titans.

According to ESPN's Ben Goessling, head coach Mike Zimmer said as much on Tuesday.

Zimmer didn't rule out the idea of playing quarterback Matt Cassel, though he said there's a "good chance" rookie Teddy Bridgewater will start the game. "If he does start the game, it's good for us to see how he takes the beginning of a game," Zimmer said.

Zimmer also said that quarterback Christian Ponder will see time against the Titans. Let the hate flow.

So, for those of you that were hoping to see Teddy Bridgewater as the team's starting quarterback. . .a group that I include myself in. . .Thursday will be the last chance that we get to see that for a while.
