Minnesota Vikings News and Links, 8/28

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

It's game day, ladies and gentlemen! The 2014 pre-season wraps up tonight in Nashville, as the Minnesota Vikings take to the road to battle the Tennessee Titans in the final "tune-up" before regular season action gets underway.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-We know that Everson Griffen is an outstanding athlete, but I'm not sure that even his vertical leap can match this.

-Cornerback Derek Cox did not stay out of work long.

-According to Pro Football Focus, both of the Vikings' primary quarterbacks have done very well under pressure.

-The college football season gets underway in earnest this evening. Mark is back with his look at which players the Vikings could be targeting next spring (whenever the draft is).

-In ESPN's ranking of the 32 NFL head coaches, Mike Zimmer is where you'd probably expect. . .even if it isn't as high as we might like.

From some other sources around the internet. . .

-Speaking of college football, the Minnesota Golden Gophers start their season tonight against Eastern Illinois. Our friends at The Daily Gopher have all of the coverage you'll need and more.

-For the Titan's perspective on tonight's game, be sure to check out Music City Miracles.

-Adrian Peterson says that this year's offense is "the best offense he's played in." Gotta like the sound of that.

-In a lot of cases, the pre-season finale is generally watched by the most hardcore of fans. . .and very few others.

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been, ladies and gentlemen. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, keep the language relatively clean (using spoiler tags if necessary), and keep the GIFs relatively work-safe.

Here's today's video.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Thursday, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy the rest of your day!
