Minnesota Vikings News and Links, 8/29

Don McPeak-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to another Friday, ladies and gentlemen. By this time next week, we'll be fully ready for the first regular season contest. In the meantime, we're waiting for the Minnesota Vikings to start making roster cuts, as the roster has to be reduced from 75 to 53 by Saturday at 3 PM Central time. Be sure to keep it right here for that breaking news when it occurs.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-The Vikings wrapped up a 4-0 pre-season with a 19-3 victory over the Tennessee Titans in the rain in Nashville last night. We have all the stories relating to the game in a stream right here.

-Eric did a recap of the evening's events.

-Arif and company have put together a brand new episode of Norse Code for everyone to enjoy.

-The folks from the mothership released their 2014 NFL Preview. They don't think highly of the Vikings, but that's okay. They can be wrong, too.

From some other sources around the internet. . .

-Adrian Peterson reiterated that he wants to retire a Viking, following an ESPN story that said he told Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones that he would like to play for the Cowboys when he's done in Minnesota.

-Speaking of ESPN, Kevin Seifert reminds us that it really isn't up to Peterson if he retires as a Viking or not.

The rules of the Open Thread are basically the same as they've ever been, folks. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, keep the bad language to a minimum (using spoiler tags, if necessary), and keep the GIFs relatively work-safe.

For our music today, one of Kyle's favorite songs. . .if you follow him on Twitter, you already know that.

With that, the bar is open and the beer light is on for this Friday, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy the rest of your day!
