A couple of surprises as we get closer to the deadline for the Minnesota Vikings to make their roster cuts. We've got four more names to add to the list.
Per numerous sources, the Minnesota Vikings are releasing running back Dominique Williams, offensive lineman Jeff Baca and. . .what comes as a significant surprise to me. . .safeties Chris Crocker and Kurt Coleman.
It's certainly a surprise to see both Crocker and Coleman cut, but I guess the Vikings were impressed enough with Andrew Sendejo and Antone Exum that they figured they didn't need a veteran. I think we can assume this means that Robert Blanton will end up starting next to his Notre Dame teammate, Harrison Smith, at safety.
Dominique Williams was a bit of a long shot at running back, even though he did have a decent pre-season. Baca, a sixth-round pick of the Vikings in 2013, got caught up in the numbers game along the offensive line.
Still a few more moves to be made before 3 PM Central time. Keep track of all the moves on our Minnesota Vikings Roster Cut Tracker.
