Minnesota Vikings Roster: So, What Happens Now?

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings have cut their roster to 53 players, per National Football League rules. So, what does the team do from here?

Well, now the team can start putting in waiver claims on guys that they're interested in that were cut by other teams. The waiver priority order is based on last year's order of finish, so the Vikings sit at #8 on the priority list, and the Houston Texans are at #1. The waivers don't reset after a team makes a claim. . .basically, if the Texans want somebody, they get them. The waiver claim period ends at 11 AM Central time on Sunday, or approximately 19 hours and 45 minutes from now.

After that, teams can start formulating their ten-man practice squads. There is no waiver priority for practice squad signings. Any player that clears waivers and meets the eligibility requirements can be signed to the practice squad.

The "final cuts" might be over, but there is still plenty of work to be done on the Minnesota Vikings' roster before the team heads to St. Louis for Week 1 of the 2014 NFL season. We'll be tracking everything that the Minnesota Vikings do between now and then right here for you as soon as we get the news.
