It's game day! In a little under 12 hours , the Vikings open the 2014 season with their first home game at TCF Bank Stadium against the Oakland Raiders. There's a lot to look for in tonight's game, even though it's pre-season.
For one, the Raiders selected LB Khalil Mack, a guy many Vikings fans wanted in the draft. The draft turned out better than all right for the Vikings, as they got Anthony Barr and Teddy Bridgewater in the first round, but Mack is a guy that I'm really going to be watching for the Raiders.
And as exciting as this is for all of us, hey, it's still pre-season. We'll see a lot of reserve players, and a shuttling of Matt Cassel and Bridgewater until the Vikings coaches are satisfied that they've seen enough. Adrian Peterson won't play, and that's fine by me. On defense, expect a lot of rotation at linebacker, from everyone, the entire game. I think the Vikings have a good idea on their starters in the base 4-3 and the nickel, but the second and third teams will get a long, hard look tonight.Game time: 7 p.m. Central time.
Parking at TCF Bank Stadium: Parking is going to be at a premium. The University of Minnesota has a detailed web page devoted to everything you would want to know about where to park, tailgating, bus shuttle services, and traffic flow. It's located right here, and if you're going to the game, I HIGHLY recommend reading this and becoming familiar with things. There's going to be some growing pains for everyone, but the more you know, the better your gameday experience will be. The Vikings have also put out some game day tips, which you can read right here.
