It's September 1, everybody, which means that it's officially GAME WEEK across the National Football League. Sure, there's a game happening on Thursday, but honestly. . .who cares? The big games, as we all know, is at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis on Sunday afternoon, as the Minnesota Vikings head south to take on the St. Louis Rams.
Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .
-EDIT: We have started a second version of both our Survival Football and Pick 'Em pools. If you want to get involved, check out the post. If you've already joined one, please don't join the second one.
-The majority of what happened over the weekend is contained in our roster cut thread that we had up over the weekend, where we kept everyone up to date on who the Vikings were releasing. . .and later acquiring. . .to shape the 53-man roster and the practice squad.
-CCNorseman stepped in for Ted and put together a nice version of the Stock Market Report for the Vikings' pre-season finale against the Tennessee Titans.
-And, just before the final roster cutdowns, the National Football League finally got around to letting the Vikings know that Jerome Simpson's three-game suspension would be upheld. He'll be eligible to come back before the team's Week 4 match-up against the Atlanta Falcons at TCF Bank Stadium.
-We've also gone ahead and updated our Minnesota Vikings Twitter Page as well. It now has all of the members of this year's team, all the way through to the practice squad.
Since pretty much all of the news from over the weekend was about the shaping of the Vikings' roster, we'll just leave it at that for now.
Otherwise, the rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been, ladies and gentlemen. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, keep the bad language to a minimum (using spoiler tags, if necessary), and keep the GIFs relatively work-safe.
For today's musical accompaniment, yes. . .it is game week.
With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Labor Day, ladies and gentlemen. Not sure how many folks are going to be around today with the holiday, but we hope you at least stop by for a little while.
