Diving Into My Second Week With FanDuel

If you want Matt Cassel on your FanDuel team, you can have him. . .but it will cost you $1,000 more of your cap space than it did last week.

Last week, I spoke about my first week using FanDuel, SB Nation's main fantasy football sponsor for this season, and my entry into The Kalil Foundation's Duel for a Difference, where the proceeds went towards the fight against Lupus. Sadly, I didn't do as well as I might have liked, placing 478th out of 1239 entries with a team score of 112.16 points. My team looked like this:

QB - Carson Palmer - $6,900 salary - 21.06 points
RB - Adrian Peterson - $9,300 - 10.3 points
RB - Stevan Ridley - $6,600 - 3.8 points
WR - Cordarrelle Patterson - $6,400 - 20.3 points
WR - Julian Edelman - $6,300 - 14.6 points
WR - Anquan Boldin - $6,000 - 13.9 points
TE - Jimmy Graham - $8,100 - 12.2 points
K - Blair Walsh - $5,000 - 13 points
D - Chicago - $5,300 - 3 points (Yeah. . .this was a mistake.)

Unfortunately, there isn't another Duel for a Difference this week. . .apparently that will be back in Week 3 (I thought it was an every week thing), so I'm going to delve into a different pool this week.  This one has a $5 entry fee, with a limit of 250 entries. Here's the roster I'm going with for this week.

QB - Andrew Luck (vs Philadelphia) - $9,200
RB - Adrian Peterson (vs New England) - $8,800 DeMarco Murray (at Tennessee) - $8,500
RB - Chris Ivory (at Green Bay) - $5,700
WR - Cordarrelle Patterson (vs New England) - $7,100
WR - Kelvin Benjamin (vs Detroit) - $6,600
WR - Michael Crabtree (vs Chicago) - $6,500
TE - Zach Ertz (at Indianapolis) - $5,600
K - Blair Walsh (vs New England) - $5,100
D - Seattle (at San Diego) - $5,400

Managed to spend every penny $59,700 of my $60,000 salary cap, and still have a couple of homer picks (though I'm guessing that Patterson is finding his way on to plenty of non-Vikings fans' FanDuel teams). Hopefully I can find my way into the money this week.

And, if you were to jump into one of these pools, how much would it cost you to field an (almost) all-Minnesota Vikings lineup if you were so inclined?

QB - Matt Cassel - $6,400 (up $1,000 from last week)
RB - Adrian Peterson - $8,800 (-$500) Matt Asiata - $4,500
WR - Cordarrelle Patterson - $7,100 (+$700)
WR - Greg Jennings - $5,700 (+$200)
WR - Jarius Wright - $4,500 (-$100)
TE - Kyle Rudolph - $5,500 (-$200)
K - Blair Walsh - $5,100 (+$100)
D - Minnesota - $5,300 (+$300)

Total Price - $44,100 (Last week's total, with Peterson, was $46,900)

That would still give you enough salary cap space to grab any running back you want in order to round out your 9-man roster.

So, if you're curious about FanDuel or just want something a little different in your fantasy football experience, jump on in and give it a go. Hopefully some of you folks will do that and find a lot more success than I did last week.
