If you're wondering whether or not Teddy Time is going to be "a thing" going forward, it appears that we have our answer.
Zimmer told reporters postgame that Matt Cassel has "several broken bones" in his foot. Wouldn't gauge recovery time.— Andrew Krammer (@Andrew_Krammer) September 21, 2014
Cassel suffered the injury on a quarterback scramble in the second quarter, as he went down awkwardly after a five-yard gain. He limped to the sideline and wound up getting carted off of the field. Teddy Bridgewater came into a pretty hostile environment and played relatively well, all things considered.
It sounds like there is a chance that Cassel will be on the shelf for a while, which means that Teddy Bridgewater will make his first NFL start at TCF Bank Stadium in Week 4 when the Minnesota Vikings play host to the Atlanta Falcons. Christian Ponder will serve as the backup.
Here's hoping that Matt Cassel can make a swift and full recovery for the Vikings.
