Chad Greenway, who has an active starting game streak of 90 games, which is currently most among NFL linebackers, will more than likely see that streak end on Sunday against Atlanta.
Zimmer: Chad Greenway probably won't play. "Unless we have a miraculous recovery" #Vikings
— Andrew Krammer (@Andrew_Krammer) September 26, 2014
Greenway was limited against the Saints this past Sunday, only making three tackles and seeing the field for 57 of the team's 71 defensive snaps. At his weekly press conference this past Monday, head coach Mike Zimmer felt that in looking back on his status, it probably wasn't smart to play him because of how the injuries limited his effectiveness.
So with Greenway more than likely out, it looks like Gerald Hodges will get the start on the weakside in his place. Hodges, a second year guy from Penn State, played very well in limited snaps last week. He was only on the field for 18 plays, but finished second on the team in tackles with six, and lead the team with two tackles for loss.
It hasn't been reported how long Greenway might be out, but it sounds like it might be more than just one game, based on the comments from the coaching staff. We'll keep you posted when his status changes, either way.
