Two Minnesota Vikings Rookies Up For NFL Weekly Awards

Bruce Kluckhohn-USA TODAY Sports

With Week 4 of NFL action completely in the books, the folks from NFL.com have listed their nominations for their various player of the week awards, and there are a couple of Minnesota Vikings rookies that have been nominated.

The first nomination we'll talk about comes for running back Jerick McKinnon, who has been nominated for this week's FedEx Ground Player of the Week award. McKinnon had 135 yards rushing on just 18 carries on Sunday, and threw in a 17-yard reception as well.

His competition for the award this week comes from DeMarco Murray of the Dallas Cowboys (24 carries, 149 yards, two touchdowns) and Jamaal Charles of the Kansas City Chiefs (92 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, two receiving touchdowns). You can go to NFL.com/FedEx and vote for McKinnon. . .if he wins, FedEx will donate $2,000 to the Minneapolis chapter of the American Red Cross.

Both McKinnon and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater are nominated for this week's Pepsi Rookie of the Week Award. Bridgewater completed 19-of-30 passes for 317 yards, and included 27 yards rushing and a 13-yard rushing score in Minnesota's 41-28 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Click on the link above there and cast your vote for either Bridgewater or McKinnon.

It nice to see guys from our favorite football team in position to win these sorts of things, isn't it?
