Minnesota Vikings News and Links, 9/4

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

The 2014 NFL season officially gets underway tonight, folks. I probably won't be watching, but I'm sure a lot of folks will be.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-Ted exchanged Five Good Questions with the folks from Turf Show Times, SB Nation's site for the St. Louis Rams. You can see the questions that TST had for Ted (and his answers) right here, and see the questions that Ted had for them at this link.

-Mel Kiper's projected All-Rookie Team had a member of the Minnesota Vikings on it. . .and not the one you might think.

-The team has made a move with their practice squad again, signing safety Ahmad Dixon and releasing offensive tackle Mike Remmers.

-CCNorseman has completed his Ultimate Power Ranking. . .be sure to check them out!

From some other sources around the internet. . .

-The Vikings' defense is already showing signs of improvement.

-Mike Zimmer revealed his starters at strong safety and middle linebacker after all, naming Robert Blanton and Jasper Brinkley to those spots.

-Brandon Watts, Michael Mauti, and Zach Line all sat out of practice for the Vikings on Wednesday.

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been, ladies and gentlemen. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, keep the language relatively clean (with spoiler tags, if necessary), and keep the GIFs relatively work-safe.

Today's musical entertainment. . .seems pretty appropriate for today.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Thursday, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy the rest of your day!
