Minnesota Vikings News and Links, 9/5

So, how about that Letroy Guion, huh?

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-Eric has checked in with his first official picks column of the year. (SPOILER: He's 1-0 after last night.)

-Week 1 of the 2014 NFL season looks to be filled with potential shootouts.

-There's a brand new episode of Norse Code for everyone to listen to. Ted is even on this one!

-Adrian Peterson thinks he can score a touchdown on his first carry of the year. Hey, you tell him he's wrong.

-NFL fans swear a lot. For some reason, Minnesota Vikings fans tend to swear less than most.

-Defensive end Everson Griffen sat out of practice on Thursday with an illness. He should be ready for Sunday.

-Erin Henderson, on the other hand, will not be ready for Sunday. Not for the Vikings or for anyone else.

From some other sources around the internet. . .

-The word "Thunderdome" has been attached to the new Vikings stadium. Shame that it's in connection with the bird thing.

-Cordarrelle Patterson asked Jeff Fisher. . .personally. . .to kick the ball to him on kickoffs this Sunday. (Not Fisher to kick personally. . .as in he asked him in person.)

-Rookie guard David Yankey is one of ten Australians that will be a part of the National Football League this season.

The rules of the Open Thread are the same as they've ever been, ladies and gentlemen. . .no politics, no religion, no feeding of the trolls, keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if necessary), and keep the GIFs relatively work-safe.

For today's entertainment. . .just in case you aren't excited enough to see this guy on Sunday.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Friday, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy the rest of your day!
