In last week's voting for the Pepsi Rookie of the Week over at NFL.com, Minnesota Vikings' wide receiver Stefon Diggs beat out his teammate, linebacker Eric Kendricks, for that honor. Obviously, Kendricks was so angered and distraught over the whole thing* that he put up an even better performance this week, because he's up for the award again.
Kendricks is one of five first-year players up for Week 7 Rookie of the Week honors. Diggs is not among the nominees, despite going for over 100 yards again and making one of the best catches we'll see all season in the 28-19 victory over Detroit.
Back to Kendricks, he was credited with six tackles, two sacks, and three tackles for a loss in last weekend's game. He now has four sacks on the season, which puts him just half a sack behind Everson Griffen for the team lead.
The other nominees for this week's award are. . .
-St. Louis Rams' running back Todd Gurley (19 carries, 146 yards, two touchdowns in a 24-6 win over Cleveland)
-Oakland Raiders' wide receiver Amari Cooper (five catches, 133 yards, one touchdown in a 37-29 win over San Diego)
-Jacksonville Jaguars' running back T.J. Yeldon (20 carries, 115 yards, one touchdown in a 34-31 win over Buffalo)
-New Orleans Saints' linebacker Stephone Anthony (seven tackles, interception, pass defensed in a 27-21 win over Indianapolis)
So, make your way over to NFL.com and cast your vote for Eric Kendricks. There's no reason to have divided loyalties this week, so have at it!
* - I'm guessing that Kendricks really doesn't even care about the award.
