In an unexpected move, it appears the Vikings have traded MLB Gerald Hodges to the San Francisco 49ers. Rand Getlin of NFL Network reports:
Sources: The #49ers have acquired LB Gerald Hodges in a trade with the #Vikings.

Hodges has seen a fair amount of playing time through the first four weeks of the season, primarily prowling on early downs. He's split time with second round draft pick LB Eric Kendricks based on the defensive formation.
The 49ers ran roughshod through the Vikings run defense, so they should be quite familiar with Hodges.
According to Mark Craig of the Star Tribune Hodges will be traded for Center Nick Easton and a sixth round pick:

ESPN's Ben Goessling reported the team is high on Kendricks at MLB moving forward:
Spielman said Vikings like what they see from Eric Kendricks, who could be the MLB of future. Chance to use LB depth to help other area.

Hodges had registered 20 total tackles thus far this season. From Penn State, he was the Vikings fourth round pick in the 2013 draft.
Easton, 23 years old, standing 6'3'' and 303 pounds is a Harvard alum. He was rumored earlier today to be on the cusp of being waived by the Niners. He was an undrafted rookie free agent first united with the Ravens but was traded to San Francisco just before the season began.
Gerald thanked Vikings fans on Twitter today following the news:
Thank you Minny for everything
