On Tuesday, the Minnesota Vikings lost tight end Chase Ford to the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens, who recently lost tight end Dennis Pitta to retirement, signed Ford off of the practice squad to their active roster.
That left an opening on the Vikings' practice squad, and the Vikings filled that spot with another tight end, signing Dominique Jones. The 6'3", 270-pound Jones came into the league as an undrafted free agent in 2011 out of Shepherd University in. . .surfs to Wikipedia. . .Washington, D.C. Actually, he didn't get to the NFL until 2012, as he spent 2011 with the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the now-defunct United Football League. In 2012, he also played for the Reading Express of the Indoor Football League before signing with the Indianapolis Colts in April of 2012.
Jones, to put it lightly, has bounced around the league a lot since then. He has made stops in the following places:
-Indianapolis (2012)
-Miami (2012)
-Indianapolis again (2012-2013)
-Kansas City (2013)
-Buffalo (2014)
-Denver (2014-2015)
-Baltimore (2015)
-New York Giants (2015)
And now he finds himself in Minnesota.
He played in ten games in his time in Indianapolis, two games in Kansas City in 2013, and one game for Denver last season. In his career, he has just three catches for 42 yards, all of which came when he was with the Colts.
Welcome to Minnesota, Dominique Jones!
