The trading deadline in the National Football League came and went at 3:00 PM Central time this afternoon. Did you feel the excitement, folks? Seriously, did you feel it?
If your answer is something along the lines of "no" or "that was today" or "the NFL has a trading deadline," then you're not alone. In fact, let's use a video clip from a modern cinematic classic to run down all of the action from today's trading deadline.
There was, actually, a mild bit of excitement, as the Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns were reportedly working on a deal that would have sent all-world offensive tackle Joe Thomas to Denver for multiple draft picks, but Adam Schefter reported that the deal did not get made before the trading deadline passed.
As expected, the Minnesota Vikings didn't make any moves, whether it was dealing Cordarrelle Patterson or acquiring offensive line help or anything else.
The NFL trading deadline doesn't have nearly the level of excitement that the trading deadlines in the other major sports have. It's understandable, given the amount of time it would take newly-acquired players to adjust to new schemes and things of that nature, I suppose. It makes for kind of a dull day across the league, though.
Once again, the only news that came out of the NFL trading deadline is that there is no news. Are you disappointed that the Minnesota Vikings didn't do anything prior to 3:00 PM Central?
