Mike Zimmer Gets His Cheeseburger (And Then Some)

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

If you missed it yesterday, one of the stories that was circulating the interwebs was that of Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer's trip home from work on Monday. Apparently the coach got hungry and swung through the McDonald's drive-thru and ordered a couple of cheeseburgers. Much like the Vikings' 38-7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, it didn't quite go the way that Zimmer wanted it to.

"I went to McDonald's on the way home, because I was hungry," Zimmer said. "I ordered two cheeseburgers, and I only got one. That's the kind of week it's been."

I know that they can't get every drive-thru order perfect or anything, but really. . .the discrepancy between cheeseburger (singular) and cheeseburgers (plural) should be an easy one to spot. You can bet that they charged him for two cheeseburgers, though.

However, all is not lost. According to Ben Goessling of ESPN, the folks from McDonald's Minnesota have decided to make it up to the coach, announcing that they were going to be delivering 100 cheeseburgers to the team's Winter Park headquarters. Hopefully they've at least asked how the coach likes his burgers. If the man doesn't want pickles, heaven help the person that puts them on there.

The Vikings already have a well-publicized donut club. . .maybe this is step one towards starting a burger club or something. But, in any event, Mike Zimmer got his cheeseburger. . .hopefully the all-beef goodness can help propel the Vikings to a major upset on Thursday night.
