Your Friday Open Thread

Okay, ladies and gentlemen, we need to have a bit of a discussion here. So, no links or videos or anything like that today. . .you know what the news is at the present time, and if you want to get to it, you can click the little DN logo there in the upper left to get to the main page and find it.

Over the past few weeks, I've received quite a bit of (unfortunately) negative feedback from folks about the direction the site seems to be taking, particularly in terms of some of the comments and things of that nature. So, we need to make a few changes.

For starters, the "T&A" pictures in the Open Threads (and everywhere else, frankly) need to come to an end. Immediately. Yes, I know that the overwhelming majority of the traffic on this site comes from guys, and guys like pictures of attractive women and all that. However, we do have female readers and female commenters, and I would like to think that they feel welcome here, too. This is probably something that we should have nipped in the bud a long time ago, but better late than never, I suppose.

Second. . .remember when we locked down the comments sections in threads about the Chris Kluwe debacle because people couldn't go more than five comments without making it personal and throwing around insults and not discussing the actual subject at hand? Yeah. . .we're starting to see a bit of that creep into the comments and into the Open Threads. Look, we're all adults here, and not everybody is going to agree on everything. We get that. But, as the old saying goes, you can disagree without being disagreeable. So, if you're going to debate stuff, attack the post and not the poster. I really don't want to start handing out vacations because people feel the urge to call each other names and stuff.

So there you go. . .that's what we're looking at going forward. I don't think we're asking too much with what I've expressed in the above paragraphs. We want to continue to be the best Minnesota Vikings fan site on the internet, and those things that have been outlined above will allow us to do that.

The beer light is on and the bar is open for your Friday Open Thread, folks. We'll have more for you as the day goes on.
