Minnesota Vikings News and Links, 3/3

One week from today, we will be preparing for the start of NFL free agency. No real read on what the Minnesota Vikings are going to do at this point, but we'll be doing our best to track it every step of the way.

Since the last time we brought you an Open Thread. . .

-The Vikings would like to keep linebacker Chad Greenway around. . .for a significantly lower price.

-The team has also started talking with running back Adrian Peterson.

-The franchise and transition numbers have come out, and they could have a bearing on whether or not the Vikings exercise their fifth-year option on Matt Kalil.

-The FLOATING HEADS are back, as Ted goes directly into the office of Rick Spielman in his quest to see what he could get for Adrian Peterson in a trade.

From some other sources around the internet. . .

-The Vikings will, apparently, have about $23 million in salary cap space when free agency begins.

-Rick Spielman said that we can expect the Vikings to "sit back" at the start of free agency. Of course, he said that last year, too, and the Vikings proceeded to sign two free agents (Linval Joseph and Captain Munnerlyn) in the first 24 hours.

-With "Pro Day season" starting to get into full swing, one has to be wary of any of the results that come from them.

The rules of the Open Thread are as follows:

-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-No pictures that could potentially get someone fired or in serious trouble at their place of employment
-If you can't disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away

Your musical selection for today.

With that, the beer light is on and the bar is open for this Tuesday, ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy the rest of your day!
